Virginia is a veterinarian and educator and has recently begun a new role as the Director of a new Veterinary Technology program at Appalachian State University. She is passionate about the human-animal bond, One Health, and wellbeing and is dedicated finding innovative solutions to improve sustainability and promote positive change in the veterinary profession and beyond. Becoming a veterinarian and caring for animals was her dream from childhood. She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Public Health degree from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Zoology from Miami University. In her life outside work, she is a mother of three young children and enjoys hiking, reading, her Peloton bike, and spending quality time with her family.
