Wendi has a diverse background spanning education, writing, speaking, art, business, and military service. Her passion for STEAM advocacy and environmental stewardship drives her dedication to equip the next generation of leaders to confront historically significant global challenges with confidence.
With nearly three decades of teaching experience across the globe, Wendi firmly believes that education, research, and creativity of all forms are integral to finding solutions and that empowering youth to view themselves as integral to the health of our planet is essential. She is the founder of the Praespero mini-grant program which supports youth-inspired work within their local environments.
Wendi aspires to improve her skills in knowledge translation and science communication to build bridges and connect thinkers so that we can all make more informed decisions. She has also studied the impacts of environmental neurotoxins on the learning and developing brain, stoked by a perennial interest in how the wellness of both people and the planet intersect.
As a visual storyteller, Wendi has leveraged her stick-figure and listening skills to foster collaboration, ambition, and creativity in myriad organizations and settings. She recognizes the powers of communication, beauty, and wonder to link people with science and sustainability and is excited to engage with the collective intellectual playground of this cohort of women in the sciences and arts.
She is the author of Visual Impact: Quick, Easy Tools for Thinking in Pictures and Visual Notetaking for Educators: A Teacher’s Guide to Student Creativity.
