Inspired by the scientific education on materials research at University of New Hampshire (US) and South-Central University for Nationalities (China), Yuxi has been trying to explore potential approaches to promote sustainability at the intersection between materials and design. In 2018, she initiated NANOxARCH, a social venture that designs sustainable spaces using only outstanding sustainable materials/products from NANOxARCH’s original global database, which scouts and collects outstanding sustainable materials/products (quality, reasonably priced, attractive) from all over the world, many of which are upcycled/recycled from so-called trash/waste. Yuxi believes that there should be no such thing as ‘waste’ on Earth, and that everyone’s purchasing behaviour could potentially create bonus value in shaping a more sustainable homeland together.
